Points Scoring

There are numerous ways to gain and lose points in the game. In general you score the most points by removing all Star cubes, removing cubes stacked high, positioning cubes to make a Cubis, and leaving few cubes on the board. Oh, and don't forget to do it fast to get time bonuses!

Level Scoring Summary

The Level Scoring Summary screen is shown below. This screen appears after every successfully completed level as an itemized description of your points accumulated for that level.

Cubes Removed: The total number of cubes of any type that you removed.

Chains Made: The number of chains obtained.

Cubis Bonus: The amount of points gained for making one or more Cubis chains.

Time Bonus: 20 bonus points awarded for every unused second.

Cube Penalty: 15 points lost for every Normal or Fractured cube left on the board.

Star Penalty: 350 points lost for every Star cube left on the board (arcade mode only).

Level Total: The total of all the above points.

High Score Lists

The Top 10 scores are saved separately for each Game / Game Type. For example there is a separate high-score list each for Game Pack 1 -- Arcade, Game Pack 1 -- Puzzle, and so on. Navigating to view a high-score list for a particular game is similar to starting a New Game.

Example: View the High Score list for Game Pack 2 -- Puzzle:

1) Press the Game Menu button in the left control panel.
2) Press the "HighScores" button
3) Select the Puzzle Game type.
4) Select the Game Pack 2 game.
5) Press the View "HighScores" button.

Note: Scores obtained in Practice mode cannot be saved to high-score lists.

Points Scoring Reference

Although the game is not difficult to play, there are a numerous methods to gain bonus points. Below is a summary of how scores are tabulated.

Action Score
Remove one Normal cube 30
Remove one Star cube 700
Destroy one Fractured cube

30

Destroy two or more Fractured cubes Fractured cube one is 30, Fractured cube two is 60, Fractured cube three is 90 and so on. Points are incremented by 30 for each extra Fractured cube destroyed for a single move.
Destroy one Immovable cube 30
Remove one Chain of three cubes

For each cube removed in the Chain, multiply each cube score by its layer height (one through three, where three is the highest layer), then add these numbers together.

  • Example: For a three-cube chain made by two normal cubes on the bottom layer and one Star cube on top of them (layer two), the score for that Chain would be:
    (30 * 1) + (30 * 1) + (700 * 2) = 1460
Remove one Chain of four or more cubes

Chains with four or more cubes benefit from a multiplier on the Chain total as calculated above. This multiplier is incremented by 1 for each cube in the Chain above three. If the Chain consists of four cubes, the multiplier is 2. If the Chain consists of five cubes, the multiplier is 3, and so on.

  • Example: For a five-cube Chain made by 3 Normal cubes on the bottom layer, 1 Normal cube on top of them (layer 2), and 1 Star cube on top of the layer 2 cube, the total score would be:
    ((30 * 1) + (30 * 1) + (30 * 1) + (30 * 2) + (700 * 3)) * 3 = 6750
Making a Cubis

A Cubis occurs when one fired cube removes two or more Chains. Chains after the first one benefit from a multiplier. The second Chain receives a multiplier of 2, the third Chain receives a multiplier of 3 and so on.

  • Example 1: If the three-cube Chain above is the second chain removed in the Cubis, the score would be 1460 * 2 = 2920 or:
    ((30 * 1) + (30 * 1) + (700 * 2)) = 2920
  • Example 2: If the five-cube Chain above is the third chain removed in the Cubis, the score would be 6750 * 3 = 20250 or:
    (((30 * 1) + (30 * 1) + (30 * 1) + (30 * 2) + (700 * 3)) * 3) * 3 = 20250
